This music, though conventional as to design and harmonic style, challenges the commonly-held views that on the one hand paradise is preferable to the world we live in and on the other that progress has made life today better than it was in the past.
The subtitle, Post Peccatum Mundus, means The World after Sin. It implies that the world was a much different place once it was “graced” by sin.
Although caricatures are often meant to poke fun, they can also show respect by acknowledging a way of life that was meaningful in its own way.
